I believe it was Pascal who said something along the means of "There isn't enough evidence to believe in God....but there is enough that He cannot be dismissed" - something like that.
Pascal's principle is actually a mathematical reason to believe in god. It draws out 4 possibilities:
1) god exists and you believe in him.
2)god exists and you do not believe in him.
3)god does not exist and you believe in him.
4)god does not exist and you do not believe in him.
What this principle actually does is show that the only choice that ends with eternal pleasure is to believe in god.
