Completely serious.

What's the precedent for it? How did we arrive at Rapture happening this weekend, 21 May, 2011? Nostradamus? Mayan calendar? Something else?

As a non-Christian, totally not understanding how this date was calculated. Could anyone enlighten me?

Thanks in advance.

There is a group that owns the site: www.familyradio.com

They seem to think they've figured out the timing. They claim for "certain" that the rapture of the church will occur on May 21, 2011... Then the judgement will ensue, and they claim that everyone will start getting wiped out from mass disasters up until Oct 21, 2011 when the entire earth is destroyed and no one will be left alive at that point.

He says himself that many millions will die the first day (May 21), and every day after that, millions of people will die constantly each day.

I strongly caution against Harold Camping (The leader of this movement) but thats the gist of it. The guy is basically telling the entire world this, billions have been spent in all nations to put up billboards, commercials, etc... and try and inform every single human of this date. I am almost certain there will be some suicides and other problems after this doesn't come to pass & some of the real decieved people just can't cope.

Its a shame that that more people are not saved & spirit filled so they would have discernment on these issues & to see Harold Camping for what he really is :(

Also wanted to mention, Jesus himself said: "No one knows the day or the hour, not even the angels in heaven or the son, but the father only."

"But you will know when it is near, even at the door. Therefore when you see all these things coming to pass (Listed in "Matthew 24") at once, know that it is near, even at the door."

So obviously no one will ever know the exact day, but Jesus said we will know the season (when its very close) he said: "look at the fig tree, when you see that its branches become tender, you know that summer is near, so likewise when all these things are coming to pass, know that I am near, even at the door."

Cool; thanks for that. Yeah; it's a pity that some people are so desperate to find meaning that they seek out the most outlandish claims.

Ya I think this guy just wants more attention. I personally have started reading more because of this. (The bible) now I don't believe that this going to happen because in 1992 I believe he said that the rapture was going to happen then.

That's exactly right. There is little that I could add to your use of these verses. We need more spiritual discernment in the church!

Funniest scam ever has come of this nonsense:

"Once youre raptured, we'll come get your pet and look after them for life!"

of course you pay your lifetime fee up front...

Hahahahaha!!

Sadly, I think there are many confused people who will committ suicide after this.

So many truly believe it beyond all doubt.

i highly doubt that all this is true. i believe the bible. no man knows the date or the hour, period. jesus will come when people are not expecting him, not when everyone is expecting him. I am a christian, but i believe i will wake up saturday and continue with my day as if it was any other day. if for any extraordinary or unexpected reason judgement does happen on saturday, glory to God is all i have to say. people will finally see the truth. but yet, i cease to believe jesus will return on that particular day.
