I just wanted to share this, because its often overlooked, and its very important to remember, and to convict man's unbelieving heart of his own sinful nature:

Quote
Galatians 5:

16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

So, as we can see these are 2 opposing natures. When we are saved, the fruits of being saved itself should be the fruits of the spirit. As the old fades away, the new man is put on, through Christ Jesus our LORD. He does it.

Flesh (Old Nature):

Adultery

Fornication

Uncleaness

Lasciviousness

Idolatry

Witchcraft

Hatred,

variance,

emulations,

wrath,

strife,

seditions,

heresies,

Envyings,

murders,

drunkenness,

revellings

The Spirit (New Nature):

love,

joy,

peace,

longsuffering,

gentleness,

goodness,

faith,

Meekness,

temperance

(There are other passages that give more descriptive words as well, but I thought I'd use Galatians 5 for this example. I hope it was helpful to you or others.)

Here's a couple other good ones"

1. "Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things" (Philippians 4:8).

2. "Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2 that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. 3 For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles--when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries" (I Peter 4:1-3).
