They are quite different in my opinion.

In Catholicism, people bow down to the "Monstrance" & other idols. They worship mary, as well as confess to a man in a booth. Lots of rituals and traditions, etc... They have to do all these "Hail Marys", and all these works, etc... Its a religion.

Whereas Christianity is just a relationship with Jesus Christ Himself.

This is what I was going to say.
Catholicism is one branch of Christianity...

We are all one body of Christ. The only thing denominations does is separate us. God looks at us and sees one body of Christ, why do we separate ourselves?

Historically due to doctrinal differences.

It is technically the same religion but realistically, no.

wow could you take a worse look at catholics?

i find this completely wrong.
i'm a roman catholic.

to say that catholics bow down to idols is totally ignorant. catholics follow hundreds of years of rituals that part is true, but saying a hail mary is not putting mary above God. we believe in the holy trinity, the father, the son, and the holy spirit. we praise God above all, we see Jesus has Gods one and only son, and we pray to them both

where you put "whereas christianity is just a relationship with Jesus Christ Himself" -- that might be what christians do, but what is wrong with confessing sins to a priest? i was taught growing up that part of it was the fact that you HAD to tell on youself, to tell another person that you have done wrong. and its not always a list of prayers that the priest will say to do. it depends on what you tell him you did wrong.

like if i were to go to confession and tell the priest i stole my friends radio, the priest is going to tell me to return the radio, give an apoligy and to repent and remember what i did wrong.
