Ive been a catholic for many years, been to church every sunday for bout 8 years, and ive never heard of Christ coming back AGAIN in some bodily form and judging all of us, basically killing all of us and ending earth and good people go to heaven bad hell yadda yadda. My roomate jus said this is the cornerstone of christianity n catholicism, and it sounds absolutely ridiculous. and why havent i heard of this? is that really what were supposed to believe?

to answer you question simply: There is absolutely no consensus in the Christian world about anything found in the Bible or evidence thereof anymore.

If you decide to have a personal relationship with the God you grew up knowing, that is up to you :)

however, I wouldn't be too concerned that there are 100,000+ versions of your ideology floating around out there.

Acts 1:11 (King James Version) Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

There are many mentions of this throughout...

Zechariah 14:4 (King James Version) And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

Revelation 19:11-13 (King James Version)

11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.

13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

Maranatha - The Lord comes. (an early Church greeting) <3

Revelation 20:4 (King James Version) And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

I do not want to merely make up my own version of Catholicism. I try to be logical, so to me, if this truly is a widely accepted belief that Jesus will come back again (in bodily form? orr..) and KILL EVERYONE and judge them at that time.. well this might be a deal breaker. If one major piece doesn't fit, my faith in Catholicism as a whole has been damaged. Honestly, that sounds ludicrous. That is not the merciful God i thought i knew, one who gives everyone the will to live and die of natural/worldly causes. It honestly sounds like a story out of the Old Testament, where you're not supposed to take it literally, rather understand a message or lesson from it.

You can criticize me for being ignorant and not learning as much as I can about my religion, that's fine. But I do listen to the hundreds of sermons I have heard throughout my years, and peculiarly enough, I have never recounted a time when i heard the priest preaching about the day Jesus will come back and kill/judge us all and to wait for that day. I always thought of "Judgment Day" as the day we die of natural/worldly causes and are judged at the time of our death, not when death is FORCED upon us by our loving? God.

Romans 8:1(King James Version) There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Matthew 25:41 (King James Version) Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

I can't begin to explain my wonderment, of why people would think "for God to be good, He must force people to love Him".

go to a different church lol

Catholics are just.... lol sad
praying for people who are already dead? making their own book? doesn't the bible say not to add to it? and yet they are adding to it.
Go to a non-denominational church and get out of that catholic tradition CRAP!
catholics don't know how to get loose and praise God wildly. Instead they like to sit in one spot really still and sing "ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" for 2 hours straight and think they are doing something LOL

God is a merciful God but that doesn't mean he is going to just let everyone sin and do whatever they want with no punishment. You think God is going to let people curse him and live their life AGAINST him and not be judged?
And where have you been all your life? lol
Jesus's second coming IS a cornerstone in christian faith. Going to church for 8 years every sunday and not hearing a word about it just means you need to go to a different church.

And if you haven't alrdy read, heaven is obviously WAY better than earth and it will just be...amazing
Don't think of this thing as God sentencing you to death, think of it as God taking you with him into heaven. Can there be a better place?

There is so much wrong with your beliefs I can't even...

You need to get out of whatever church your going to, they are feeding you wrong information. Get away from Catholicism and denominations..

Catholicism is the only denomination that really gives much credit to Jesus.
