go to hell?
as i recall, the jewish authority sent the roman empire to crucify him, but before he died, he forgave everyone of their sins

did this include the jewish authority and the people from the roman empire that did it?
i know god knew this would happen, so did he forgive them? or did he send to them to hell?

Since Pontius Pilate clearly didn't believe in an Abrahamic religion, there's no chance (according to Christianity) that he would have gone to Heaven.

The more interesting theological question would be whether or not all of the humans that lived in the thousands of years before Christ also were sentenced to an eternal punishment when they were provided no opportunity for grace/salvation.

On the contrary, some were saved by grace. "They believed God, and it was accounted to them as righteousness."

Maybe. No one knows but God.

Jesus died to save us. Whether or not we chose to believe this (and life the lifestyle of course) determines if we get into heaven.

Always thought the old testament = before christ was saved through the commandments
after christ = period of grace

So if it were possible for a person to keep all 613 commandments, then perhaps it's possible that that person could have been saved. Do you know know of a single person that has kept the Ninth Commandment (You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor, i.e. don't lie)?

the period of grace did not come until Jesus was here.
It's based off the commandments and the judgement of God. If before Jesus came they already had grace and such.. what would be the purpose to send Christ?

Matthew 8:22 (King James Version) But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

Back then they were living by law.
In these days we are living by grace.
