Apart from the saving grace that is by faith alone in Christ alone you, and every other human that has ever lived (besides Jesus), will go to Hell. Receiving God's free grace by accepting Jesus will bring you empowerment by the Holy Spirit and God will change your heart and desires to be Christ-like. No one if perfect, only Jesus was. You will never be perfect, either. But Jesus accomplished what you cannot, he satisfied God's wrath against our sins by his sacrifice.
Now, more specific to what your asking, which I believe rephrased you mean "is masturbating a sin?". Lust is a sin. I assume you lust when you masturbate, so in that sense, yes, it is a sin. You may try to not think of anything, or think of some object while masturbating, but you won't get much accomplished (if you catch my drift) and will more than likely lust to finish the job at least, or thinking of an object means you may be idolizing that object... or it may end up arousing you... I don't know the psychology of that. Anyways, from the evidence I find in Scripture, it is a sin. A sin that is very much talked about (sexual immorality). I don't think it's coincidence that Jesus uses "eye" and "hand" when stating his hyperbole [better to (gouge it out)/(cut it off) and enter heaven maimed than to suffer torment in Hell for eternity]. On the other hand, when you are married, I do not believe it is a sin to masturbate while thinking of your wife (that is, in the case that she or you are away from each other and not in the case that someone isn't willing to have sex [which in a sense would be rape with your thoughts]). But that probably isn't the case now, so don't try to make loopholes

I know looking back to when I was very curious to finding the "solution" to this question, I just think about how it was a bad sign in the first place that I had to ask. If you have to ask if something is a sin, then it probably is. God made us in his image, so we have some innate qualities and ideas of right and wrong, not to mention the Holy Spirit to guide us when we are saved.
That may be jumbled or hard to follow, but message me if I can help you out with anything else.
