For the longest time I've been going through troubles and haven't gone to church since I was 15. And now my father is in the hospital with extremely low blood pressure and an infection in either his kidney or bladder. He only has one kidney and 2/3's of a bladder and the one kidney has limited function. I'm extremely upset and I feel like god has forsaken me and just is letting me suffer for all the bad things I did in the past... Any help or advice would be helpful. I mean I know I have to be strong not only for my father but for myself as well but it seems like life is crashing on top of me...

god did not forsake anyone. The thing about life, is that's it's all about choices. Choices have consequences. You don't take care of yourself, you're going to get sick. Don't feel that you had anything to do with your dad's illness. That's just asinine logic and reasoning.

God isn't petty and doesn't punish people like that.

you have your beliefs I have mine.

you don't go to church in order for your family to be healthy or anything, u go because you believe and want to express your faith.

that doesn't go to say you can't pray for your dad, just because you haven't been to church in a while. when my mom went to surgery those were like the only times i prayed.
