Hey guys, just recently noticed jsp had this sub forum.

I'm sure you've all gone through that time where you questioned God.
I went to a catholic high school,
Been a catholic my whole life.
But ever since I've gotten to college I've just started questioning God, and religion as a whole.

I just don't know what to truly believe in anymore, and I almost feel stupid at some times believing in God.

Anyone have any enlightening stories or tasks that helped them out?

Through prayer, we begin to feel his love and his presence. Another reason is all the Atheists I meet are miserable, angry and seem to have such a vendetta against religion.

Just persevere. It sounds like your environment is the cause, so change your environment. Find a church around your campus to attend.

LOL id think that would do the opposite. Putting your faith in your goverment to not be jsut useing you and praying/hopeing you dont get killed, that youll make it home.

No respect for Catholics. Worship Mary? Not allowed to own a bible?

This is a good thing. I don't care what side of the fence you end up on, it's always good to actually think about what and why you believe what you do. And I'd encourage you to approach this not as a "How do I come back into my faith?" and rather as "Do I want to come back into this faith?" Don't approach such a monumental life choice with a goal already in mind. Approach it with an open mind, weigh your options, choose a side. You're one of the lucky few to realize that you have the choice to think.

I suspect you have met many very nice, intelligent, and polite atheists that you did not know were atheists. It's not exactly something we readily bring up in a conversation. And to show how useless such blanket statements and assumptions can be, the most devout Christian I know (and the ONLY one I know that has actually bothered to read the holy book) is one of these least "moral" people I know. I'm speaking of my father, who despite being a decent dad, was a horrible husband and tbh, a kind of despicable person in many regards.

I'm not saying that Christians are bad people obviously. I'm saying there are good and bad people on every level of the faith spectrum, and it has nothing to do with their faith. I'm not a good and moral person because I am an atheist. I'm a good and moral person that happens to be an atheist.

Anywho, to get back to the original question: What has helped me come to my stance on faith was pretty much just a lot of sleepless nights, my schooling, the people I've met... there's no one easy way to figure this crap out. Just use your brain and enjoy wherever it takes you.

Well, I'm probably one of the happiest people you'll meet. :P

I wonder how many Atheists you've REALLY met... ;)

(I'm agnostic, though, so maybe I don't count.)

yes it is true that i have questioned God in my very short walk with him i became a christian about 2 years ago now and yes i believe it is alright to question your faith sometimes but it's not stupid to believe in God i believe that he's always there just from how my life has been and my views on life i agree with what ihavethesniffles said i think it's more of your environment that is causing your doubt but do research on it and pray about it get both sides of the spectrum and make your decision i pray that you would continue on believing in God and living for him but God doesn't force you to do it so neither am i
