if somebody asked you to wash and dry clothes for them. would you not obviously wash, then dry the clothes? you are not asked to dry and wash. peter says repent and get baptised, not get baptised and repent. also, i dont know anybody who would repent if they are not saved. you get saved, THEN repent. ALL of your sins were already forgiven by the blood of Christ Jesus when he was sacraficed over 2000 years ago.

so yes i do believe repentence > baptism

That is a false statement. He does not say AND GET. Explain to me how you come to your conclusion that you are saved then you repent and be baptized when clearly the verse does not say that? Why do you keep switching the words around to suite yourself?

Your beliefs are correct.
As i said previously, Acts ch. 10:44-48 shows gentiles who have received the holy spirit and have not been baptised by water.
Kissofdeath im surprised you would quote 1 peter 3:21. It clearly says " and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ"

the water is a symbol of your baptism into the holy spirit that offers your salvation.

Acts 10:48 says, "And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days." But if you want to say they were not then I can't stop you.

I have tried to find where baptism is just a symbol but can't do it, can someone point out in the Bible where baptism is just a symbol?

i literally posted a verse about it right above your post. How did you miss it? It says "and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also"
Water baptism symbolized the baptism by the holy spirit that saves us

This is amazing. Where in the verse does it say baptism is a symbol? NOT WHERE YOU SAY but where does the Bible say it?

Let me help you.

Acts 10:40-48 (New King James Version)

40 Him God raised up on the third day, and showed Him openly, 41 not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen before by God, even to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead. 42 And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead. 43 To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.”

44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. 45 And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.
Then Peter answered, 47 “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days.

I will be waiting for you show me where the word symbol is.

This is still aching for me so I shall ask you this:

What is the purpose of baptism? I'd like to hear the argument in what baptism does according to what you believe. Is there a purpose of the baptism? For everyone else who has commented on this subject, we are on the side that it's just an action in response to what God has done for us but you're saying it's essential. What is the purpose behind the baptism? Just curious and please make it brief as possible. I don't want like an essay. ;)

I honestly do not know why you are quoting that passage. It clearly shows gentiles who have not been baptized with water who have received the holy spirit. you have no defense for this.

1 peter 3:21 NLT
And that water is a picture of baptism, which now saves you, not by removing dirt from your body, but as a response to God from[a] a clean conscience. It is effective because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

1 peter 3:21 NIV
and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God.[a] It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

baptism is a public profession of our faith. simply put.
It is us declaring we now live for the Lord, it is good to be baptized, and is a good work, but it is not necessary for salvation.

The question was more toward kissofdeath than anyone since we've had more people support the above statement and kissofdeath is the one supporting the alternative.
