we're supposed to love our enemies, sir

I have to disagree, the bible says just be kind to the bullies pretty much, in this way they will suffer a humility defeat becuz they will not understand by what you are doing, it doesn't mean love the terrorists that are attacking israel, it means defeating them in a way which will make them stop and be less terroristic (im using bad wording :( )

I don't think killing their people and destroying their cause, is good in their eyes, they would have to realize that it's "good" in turn.

I'm getting little frustrated.

I've been a christian all my life, but I'm beginning to lose my faith since I see no hope left in it.

I keep praying and praying and praying that god would show me the path, but He never answers in any way.

Then again, I havn't explored The Bible too much, meaning that the answer could be there.

But should the love towards God and Jesus be completely selfless?

praying works only if you think it does

i thought about this when i was stoned, look:

if you pray and it doesnt work, and you believe in god, then you think god disagree

but if you pray and it 'works' you're psychologically prone to trying to find an excuse to fill in the gap between your belief and reality. so even if prayer succeeds at a very low rate, you still feel like your prayers are being answered.
this can be proven if you stop praying to god and pray to, say, your cat.

if you do this exercise correctly, you will feel the same sense of satisfaction from your cat answering your prayers as your deity.

anyway, the moral of this story is that instead of praying, a better way would be to try to solve your problem with your own power.

honestly if you think about it all the big 3 religions' focus on god has always been a focus on the balance of power.

empowering a few 'faithful' and condemning a majority of 'infidels'

but if home dude doesn't answer prayers, it'll just be humans running shit after all.

why do you think they tell you to fear god or submit to allah and all that shit.

i recommend you look up some post-ww2 history and find out how the present day state of israel was created.

then riddle me this, if hindus invaded your country, took your land, then moved you into a reservation, somewhere say like, gaza strip.

you can't go to church because your church would be in a city in their territory. (jerusalem)

you're cut you off from your friends and family because they would be in another reservation which you can't get to.

and on top of all that, decades later, they bulldozed your house and built "hindu settlements" where you used to live and forced you out again.

what would you do?

edit: i forgot to mention they will also cut off your food and medical supplies.

a thing about praying is that you might not know what's best for you. you may think you're praying for the right things but really you're not, and that's why you're not getting them answered.
but you're saying you're praying that he shows you the path for you, so the thing about that is you might not be trying too hard yourself. You can't expect God to just miraculously help you. You yourself said that you aren't reading the Bible, and that almost answers your question for yourself. You need a relationship with Jesus to be certain about your life, read the Bible and understand Him, pray and pray even when it still seems He isn't showing you your path. REALLY try hard to be a christian, go to church and learn about Him, take every opportunity in your life to be closer to Him. You need to SEEK Him to find Him, you cannot just pray and expect him to magically come to you, maybe you're not looking hard enough.

you think that you thinking you believing in God makes you happy, and that's all you want , to be happy, but let me tell you if you REALLY believe in God he will change your life and you will experience true happiness you couldn't even fathom, much more than this "happiness" you believe you feel by selfishly believing in Him, as you said yourself. you say you want to receive something from God, and honestly if you understood His Love and the sacrifice of Jesus dying on the cross, the eternal life in heaven you will receive from accepting Him as your Savior, then you would know that that is the greatest gift of all and the only thing you really need in this temporary life on earth. just continue praying friend, and build your relationship by reading more of the Bible and understanding Him and i am positive that you will be more certain about your own path.
