I don't think "defile" refers to putting ink on your body or piercing holes through your ears.
Lol, just noticed your signature.
The Good Word is interpreted in many ways to different people.
"Defile" is to desecrate or violate. Surely the body is being violated by putting unpure things into it that wasn't intended by the Lord. This not only applies to metal or ink, but things we may eat, drink, smoke, inject, breath in, swallow, etc.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Genesis 1:27I don't think God has any tattoos or piercings, but I could be wrong...
To me 1Corinthians 3:16-17 is telling me that the body is a holy temple. You wouldn't bring unholy things into your church such as a statue of a Buddha or a satanic symbol. Ink and metal are poisons to the body and don't belong there. Since the body is also referred to as a temple by God, such things are also forbidden in it!
The sarcastic laugh was also unnecessary about my signature. We are all sinners on an equal plane in the Lord's eyes. I acknowledge and repent my sins. I won't dare to ask or laugh about the lustful sins in your life, because it is not my place to judge.
Also, I have 8 tattoos and the Lord's word is still clear to me on this matter. Perhaps you are seeking justification for your own tattoos, hence why you're not accepting it is a sin. I pray for you that you may better understand the Word and repent of your sins.
Good day sir.
Created man in His own image does not refer to the way the human body looks. Do you really think God looks like a human being?
Putting ink on your skin or piercing parts of your body is not defiling it. There's no reason to think it is, beyond silly assumptions. It's practically the same as shaving body hair. Are you against that?
It wasn't a sarcastic laugh. I assumed you were trolling... I wouldn't expect a Christian to have that signature.
I don't have any tattoos myself. I don't believe getting one is sinful at all.
