If you had to choose to be heterosexual, that means you're literally bisexual and chose not to act on your same sex attractions. I know I for one never chose heterosexuality. I'm solely attracted to the opposite sex. No choice involved for me.

I was not even going to reply to this but then I though I would ask, do you know just how stupid this sound?

Read up: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biologyandsexualorientation. Bonus points if you read the studies linked by wikipedia. There are mountains of evidence pointing towards a large biological component to homosexuality. But honestly, if homosexuality is a social ("sinners") construct why do animals exhibit the same behavior?

Full disclosure: I am not gay. I've grown up with and known gay people and by all accounts they were always gay. They never really made a conscious choice to be homosexual and many have even said if they had a choice they wouldn't want to be gay because of how difficult it is to be hated by so many. Who chooses to be shunned?

The link is dead. Anyway, this is what separates a Bible Christian from everyone else. Do you think I'm going to put what man says before what God says? People like you look for answers given by man when the answer is in the Bible. If you can find the answer in the Bible you should ALWAYS use that over man's. But you choose not to, that's fine with me. It's not my soul at stake.

Why do you keep bringing animals up??

You need to go back and read my reply #13.

My brother's gay and my sister's bi. Trust me, I know there's no "choice" involved :)

I'm sorry to hear that.

i'm friends with a "gay" christian. The difference is that he knows that homosexuality is wrong. He does not believe that having the attraction towards men is sin but the sin comes from acting on or lusting after that attraction. I think we can probably all agree on this. He is trying to allow God to change him and his sexual orientation but he is pursuing God and doing his best to live as christ would.

The way i see it is that there may be a gene that is linked to homosexuality, just as there is a gene that is linked to alcoholism. Having this gene may make you more inclined to a certain sin, but we know 1 cor 10:12-13 holds true and it says god will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you cannot bear.

I don't believe in a gay christian. They ignore God's wishes and don't realize there living in sin. A gay person can change if they want to but they must look to God for help otherwise they wont be able to.

It's 100% logical. I never chose my sexuality. I'm just straight. It's the same with every gay person that I've ever met. You, however, claimed that you did choose your sexuality. That means at one point you made a choice between acting on attractions to the opposite sex and attractions to the same sex. If you claim that you made a choice, then you are physically bisexual, and by choice are choosing to act on only the heterosexual attractions. Sexuality isn't the neat cut and dry, black and white thing that some people would like it to be. Like practically every other human attribute, there's a spectrum between one extreme (pure heterosexuality) and the other (pure homosexuality).

I'm not. It broadened my horizons and made absolutely sure that I have enough life experiences to say that I am completely informed in my opinions on homosexuality. Honestly, the only way someone could claim that homosexuality is a choice is that they've seriously never had an honest discussion with someone that's gay and so they prefer to live in their tiny little world where everything is black and white.

This is true.

Also, there is quite a bit of "gay gene" research going on. So far from what I have seen nothing has been found.
