That speaks more to the inability of the responders to be mature and civil than it does to the OP , wouldn't you agree ?

I think it speaks to both. The creator is immature for making a topic that is against forum decorum (and has been shown time and time again to cause a drama fest), and the responders are immature for not being able to civilly discuss the topic (though I honestly don't see what there is to discuss).

Either way, the point is that since we know the outcome of creating such a thread, and topics like these aren't by any means original, they are bad for PARD and shouldn't be made.

But why does it have to be a drama fest? Why can't people just stay out of this and allow us who enjoy these threads and do take encouragement from them to have them? It's not like it's hurting anyone. It's not like we can have this anywhere else on jsp! Don't be so mean and closed minded please!

I'm fine with that, it's just that people should then be able to post encouraging 'words' that they find encouraging in threads entitled "Encouraging Word of the Day #X", like AiNedeSpelCzech did, regardless of whether or not it's Christian or not.

The solution of having everyone post their own seperate threads to express their own encouraging 'word' would be a magnification of the spam.

Also, Kamahls' proposition is a great one, a sticky for encouraging words is a great solution.

I agree with this.

The suggestions of censorship are quite disturbing .

What's next , a sticky for anti-social ramblings on PaRD ?

Well people that don't believe in God wouldn't see much to discuss. As a believer this is what I see:

When I read this Bible verse today it made me think of my anxiety. It helps me remember that God will give me the courage when I venture outside of my home when I'm convinced I will freak out and embarrass myself if I step outside my door to go anywhere but church. It gives me comfort to know I can look this up in my Bible anytime I need to be reminded. I draw strength from it!!!! It makes me feel better to read it.

I see something in it that you don't.

We're not wanting to censor them; we're only wanting to confine this encouragement to one thread so we don't have spam.

That's great, and I'm happy for you, but I still don't want to see multiple threads pertaining to the same type of thing. It will only cause more flaming and spamming.

The problem arises when one tries to reply to a sticky since they are closed to any discussion . That is censorship .

Not all stickies are closed; only the ones pertaining to rules. The sticky is a privledge; if you want, it could be an ordinary thread instead. It doesn't matter either way, as long as it's confined to a single thread.

You do realize that there are open stickies, right?
