Quote (Neili @ May 10 2024 07:00am)
“I have sometimes thought that true, selfless love with all the sacrifices it implies really exists, and it was when I saw you write it that I really believed in it".

This is a prayer that I could say, and that I have probably already said silently, to my guardian angel, to God and to all those who believe in true love.

Love which is ultimately a form of sacrifice, represented by Jesus on the cross in the Christian faith. He sacrifices his own life to save our souls.

I really think that love is a sacrifice, too, which is why I like to think that there is a large part of truth and love in the prayers that everyone addresses to each other, to God or to their lucky star, their guardian angel.

“Faith is an intelligent grace; though there can be knowledge without faith, yet there can be no faith without knowledge. So necessary is knowledge to the being of faith, that the scriptures do sometimes baptize faith with the name of knowledge.
“After he has suffered, he will see the light of life and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities” ‭‭(Isaiah‬ ‭53‬:‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬). Knowledge is put there for faith.” - Thos. Watson

On atheism / atheists spoken of in Psalm 14:
"The fool," a term in Scripture signifying a wicked man, is used also by the heathen philosophers to signify a vicious person. It also signifies the extinction of life in men, animals, and plants; so the word is taken (Isa. 40:7), "the flower fadeth" (Isa. 28:1), a plant that hath lost all that juice that made it lovely and useful. So, a fool is one that hath lost his wisdom and right notion of God and divine things, which were communicated to man by creation; one dead in sin, yet one not so much void of rational faculties as of grace in those faculties; not one that wants reason but abuses his reason. “I would endeavor to cleanse myself from all filthi-ness: there never will be a mortified tongue while there is an unmortified heart.”
