That is not true, I think your perspective is just a little different.  Your emotions must be pretty radical if they lead you to actually finding joy in the deaths of others.  You are attempting to put a value on human life based on their actions, and I believe that all life is valuable.

It is one thing to being happy that the sins of an individual have come to an end and as a result no more people will be harmed because of their sins; but to actually celebrate death is a pretty dark and shameful thing in my opinion.

How is my perspective of life radical? The fact that it makes me happy to know that someone is dead which in turn saves billions of lives? I fail to see how that is a jaded or radical perspective?

It's not that you are celebrating the fact that "billions" of lives are saved, you are celebrating the fact that someone died. Again, I urge you to consider the implications and dig a little deeper than you currently are. Think about the point I'm trying to get across.

I get what your saying but both of those feelings are one in the same. I am joyful of the death, BECAUSE it will save billions of lives.

If that's really what you believe then you are not "getting" what I am saying, and are not digging deeper than I have asked you to.

I don't think you're separating the sin from the man;

Well if Jesus doesn't think that those people deserve to be dead and wouldnt be happy that it happened... then Jesus was/is an asshole ;)

God doesn't delight in the death of men, only of sin and evil. As hedonism said, human life is valuable. As miserable a life as someone may have lead, if salvation isn't an option for the person then Jesus was being disingenuous with his sacrifice. It was and is for all men, regardless of their deeds.

In this case specifically I don't see the death of one man squelching the numerous terrorists acts, but certainly stopping someone from perpetrating more evil is something to be joyful about.

You're trying to get me to admit that being joyful of death is wrong, but there are certain circumstances to where I believe that it is ok. No you shouldn't be happy that your asshole neighbor died just because you had your differences. But in the case of someone like HITLER or Goebbles yes it is more than ok to get joy from their deaths.

i think there's a difference between being glad that this person isn't able to bring any more grief, versus taking joy in the fact that he's dead & having feelings of revenge and "justice"

LOL @ the similarities between our sigs

This discussion isn't about me, the original question was whether or not it was considered a sin to be happy about someone's death, and I provided my opinion to help a little.

To help understand you a little better, on the subject of Hitler: If we managed to simply capture him and force him out of power (where he could not harm anybody else), would that not be enough for you? The end result is the same, preventing the deaths of others, so his death becomes a matter of your personal emotions, which is what makes it selfish.

When you start to think a little more selflessly you will understand my perspective a little better, until then you probably won't be able to post anything different than what you already have.

In proverbs somewhere it says "don't rejoice in someones destruction"

Not sure if its a sin, All I know is that it isn't wise.
