I will respectfully disagree . The discussion is now 2 pages long and growing .

The inability of people to NOT comment on Biblical citations when they don't accept them can lead to a lively thread .

But we're not discussing the bible citations, instead we're discussing forum decorum.

On the surface yes , but the objection to these threads goes much deeper .

As I've said before, my main objection stems from what the people who heavily support/create these threads did in regards to AiNedeSpelCzech.

Which is really the same issue .

As I remember it he was simply asked to create his own discordianism threads and was given a verbal slap on the wrist .

I guess it's because I hardly understand the translation of "Encouraging word" to "Christian word".

I was under the impression that encouragement can arise from words outside the Christian faith.

If we were to keep this thread here, I would be fine with it if it were only 1 thread, a sticky, or a weekly thing. I think it would invite more discussion if the frequency of the threads was lowered.

I mean, seriously. We don't have a daily "Ask us for prayers" thread. I do not think that a similarly titled thread about political events in the past would be fly in this forum, either. Stating something doesn't invite much

discussion. The OP isn't making an argument, introducing a new issue, or defending anything.

For example, this one right here.

Quote

Josh 1:9............ "Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed,
for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."

Ok, this piece is telling me that I shouldn't be afraid of anything because God is on my side. There's no room for discussion. You'll get the agnostic/atheist crowd that says "You need proof if you're going to substantiate that God even exists to watch over you" and you'll get the religious crowd that gives any number of personal arguments that I'd rather not go into detail on.

The only form of "discussion" I have seen in these threads are either other Bible passages or random moderator friends that decide to post in this thread to make it appear like a discussion.

Most people do not want to talk about their own religious experiences, they are too personal for them. Why, then, should we have these threads on a daily basis?

They can , and if they are of any merit they deserve a thread of their own . I think the issue dealt more with intent than content and deliberately aggravating those who ""wear the green " was asking for trouble .

The real irony lies in the fact that if these threads were ignored they would drop to the next page quicker than any inkanddagger thread does .

What many do not realize is that by objecting to these threads they keep the OP's message alive and a seed is planted in everyone who reads it .

Can't we just chalk it up to everyone is entitled to their own opinions and allowed to express them in this forum because this is the only place on jsp to openly discuss religion without it being spam?

These threads are encouraging to me, and perhaps others too. They don't post because they will be flamed and made fun of. This thread gives me something to look up in my Bible and think about it's meaning and pray about how I can put it into practice within my own walk with Christ. Just because you don't, doesn't mean SOMEONE doesn't. There is spam all over jsp, not just this forum. If this really is spam at least it's spam with a positive message. You don't have to agree with it, just ignore it if it offends you. But allow the people who gain something from it to have it since we can't have it anywhere else on jsp. Please?
