WHAT is your attitude when people speak BADLY of you? When they FALSELY accuse, insult or criticize you? The temptation is always there to speak BADLY BACK, to take REVENGE and strike back with VENGEANCE. We may even feel it is our DUTY to DEFEND ourselves and put others in their place. We may feel it is important for others to know that no one is TRYING with ME. Or to simply keep others at a DISTANCE. The truth is: No one ever had more reason to take revenge than JESUS. Yet He chose to forgive and absolve. And to shed His BLOOD … even for those who CRUCIFIED Him. JESUS ​​says: Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you for My sake. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven; for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you (Mt 5:11-12). But I say to you, Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who despitefully use you and persecute you (Mt 5:44).
