So why do you disregard some and not all? The Old Testament commands that we kill homosexuals and adulterers. Have you done any of that lately?

Because of what Paul says all through Romans?
Because Jesus died so that those things would be broken and that we may be forgive and many more things.

Romans 7:6
New International Version
But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.

Alot more where that came from.

Which part does he say we are not to kill them? I believe Paul talks about the wrath of God in regards to homosexuality. (Remember not to add to the bible)

I'll see your Romans scripture, and raise you one from Jesus.

Also.. Paul instructs Timothy on how to worship (and how to teach the church in Ephesus how to worship) nowhere does he mention musical instruments. Are we adding to the bible if we have them?

When Jesus died for us on the cross and by accepting that sacrifice and believing and taking him into our lives. Those laws were broken.
When we confess and he forgives, God doesn't even remember our sins!

And all those laws were under the Old Covenant and if you will read Romans it says what we've been freed from them.

There are some things on this I'm still learning and I'm actually in the process of reading Romans again at the moment.

But again Jesus said he didn't come to abolish the law. (matt 5:17)

Does Paul have more authority than Jesus? Also Paul gave specific instructions on how we are to worship (in Timothy).. nowhere does he mention musical instruments. Why did we add them?

Yes, Jesus came to obey the laws obviously. If he were to not obey the laws he would have sinned, which we all know didn't happen.
If the Old Testament laws about stoning aldulterers was still in effect that means Jesus would have sinned becuase he didn't kill the women that committed adultery. And obviously Jesus never sinned.

Your taking one verse and pinning it against the entire bible now.
Paul told Timothy how to praise.. Ok, take hold of t hat knowledge and combine it with how David taught how to praise. The man after God's own heart.
Worship is a free thing. There are hundreds of verses about worshipping with instruments and just worshipping in general. But Praying through Mary has yet to have one detail or mention in the bible.

Abolish - to do away with; put an end to; annul; make void.

No he didn't come to abolish the law. He came to free us from it.

Yet there is not one verse in the New Testament about worshiping with instruments... weird. Also Romans 14 talks about what goes against the conscience. Some Romans were vegetarians and saw it as a sin to eat meat. Others ate meat and saw it as a sin to be a vegetarian. Others celebrated certain days and saw it as a sin if you didn't celebrate them as well. Clearly they are adding to the bible (as Paul himself says that no food is unclean).. yet Paul says it's ok.. why do you think that is?

So when President Lincoln freed the slaves he didn't abolish slavery?

So what are you saying? The New Testament makes worship with intruments sinful? Like I said you can't take one verse and make it your own personal bible you gotta take the whole book. There is NOTHING about worship in the law and never has been.

Verse please.

Jesus siad he came not to abolish the law.
Lincoln obviously abolished slavery.
I think I need to do more meditation on the subject though. I can get back to you.

Just took a look at Romans 14, it's all about talking in tongues and praying in the spirit. You must have it confused with a different chapter.

If you haven't noticed already I am playing devil's advocate. Romans 14 is a prime example of "interpretation when the bible is silent". People were thinking certain things were sins, and were against it. Paul said that if you go against your conscience (which deals with personal sin unrelated to biblical law), you are sinning. So obviously Paul advocated interpretation where the bible was silent. Which was the whole point I was trying to make, lol.

As long as our interpretation does not conflict with God's word.. it's free game. Asking Mary to pray for you and with you does not conflict with God's word.

No it doesn't conflict. But Mary is probobly not praying for you when you ask her. In fact she probobly can't even hear you.
