I never said anything about you twisting my words bro, just about how it seems like I am twisting words of the bible, or that you are , or that anyone does.
I read that verse before I even pursued anything, because even after reading that I did not agree with your point.
It shows Jesus saying that if we persistently pray we can get God's notice and perhaps have our prayers answered. However, it does not say what the content of the prayer is.
Whatever people did in the past has no concern for me, the prophets words and those of the church are just those. Only words from Jesus and God have any definitive merit, everything else is just their interpretation.
With that said, praying, or having a conversation of God, would be pointless if it was only about your desires consitantly. In my opinion it is a sort of blasphemy to repetitively beg for something. I think asking once, then praying to him about general things will show your sincerity upon the subject. Also, a prayers length can be long or short depending on the person. Some people are long winded, some are not. Just don't pride yourself on being long winded.
I think it's pretty clear based on the parable he tells that the content of the prayer was asking for something to be done.
I'm not preaching health and wealth gospel, or saying that if you pray persistently for something that isn't in God's will you'll get it anyway.
All I'm saying is that if you care about something you should pray for it a lot, and not a single Scripture you've presented contradicts that view.
In your
opinion it's blasphemy? You
think asking once is enough? When we start to look at spiritual things from an opinion based view we start to deviate from the Bible. All of our convictions should be rooted in the Word.
My only point was to pray persistently about things you care about.
I haven't said anything about needing to have long prayers, having insincere prayers, nor did I say that asking God for things is all that your prayers should consist of. This is all stuff that you've fabricated to argue with me about.
The only reason I've even taken this as far as its gone is because I do not want you to give an opinionated and unbiblical view of prayer to people who may be viewing this.
Also, every canonized text in the Bible is the Word of God. What would possess you to think that only the gospels are relevant, when the apostles and members of the early church are the ones who wrote those anyway?
The prophets of the Old Testament were directly relaying God's commands to His people, and in most cases have prophecies about Christ within them. Are these not relevant? Do you not think that the Holy Spirit inspired the writers of the Bible?
2 Timothy 3:16
"All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness,"
