"
Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."
Just wondering how people feel about this, still applicable today? If not, why?

Being rich in the Bible especially in this verses doesnt refer to money and Jesus using the camel as exemple is full of meaning and it is also a very good thing to understand the historic explanation here.
The eye of the needle in Jesus time is not what we think. there is a gate in Jerusalem called the "eye of the needle" through which a camel could not pass unless it stooped and first had all its baggage first removed. After dark, when the main gates were shut, travellers or merchants would have to use this smaller gate, through which the camel could only enter unencumbered and crawling on its knees.. We are rich with our knowledge, rich with all material possession, rich with everything that belong on earth, rich that I dont need anyone in life, I can do everything by myself.. name it... Like the camel, Jesus invite us to remove all of our wealth and walk to him on our knees. Being on your knee = being humble. It is a picture of a repentant..
This beautiful verse in the Bible talk to everyones including the poor people in money. I can be a homeless living in the street with no money in my pocket but at the same time I am in some way rich with my thoughts that I can saved myself with my will only, that I dont need anyone.. We cannot pass through the eye of the needle without stooped on our knee and walk humbly to God.
