this is a pretty huge rift in the christian faith. there is no verse that says baptism must occur to be saved. there are verses where jesus tells his disciples to baptize people, and that baptism is a practice that should be upheld, but not that it is required for salvation
baptists believe it is require for salvation, i (as a christian) do not

no. if you 'truly' accepted jesus then you wouldnt dgaf and sin without a care in the world.
just like your baseball analogy
you can call yourself a baseball player, doesnt make it true.
you can say you accept christ as your savior, doesnt make it true

What keeps us out of heaven?
Sin, sin seperates us from God.
What is the only way to get rid of sin?
Be baptized for the Remission of sins.

Hmm
:)

Here is a good way to put it:

Once you're saved and cleansed by the precious blood of Jesus Christ, your "Wants" are changed.

You no longer "want" to sin. In fact, you hate sin because it makes you feel so bad.

Actually read the thread I posted.
We are told in the bible to be baptized for the remission of sins.....So why would it say that if it wasn't needed.

Believing is a Huge part of it. But it will not get you into Heaven alone.

Being baptised in water never saved me.

I was only saved when I came to Christ and was baptised by the Holy Spirit.

Right but it's impossible to live up to the standards of Jesus. He was perfect in every way possible

And if I tried to act like God I would be in jail for life

and If you still feel different then I'm sorry for you.

We are not suppose to follow in his foot steps.
Yeah, no one is perfect but if you can say with all your heart you actually tried. Then that is enough.

Nobody can live up to the "standards" of Jesus, and the Bible does not expect us to. Christians desire freedom from sin, but will always struggle with it's bonds. The more sin we flush out of our lives, the more like Jesus we become, and the more fulfilled our lives will be. Nothing can compare to the JOY (not happiness) that this brings.

To answer the original question, why can't you respect atheists? I respect many people that don't hold my worldview because I believe they are being intellectually honest and sincerely seek the truth. Many atheists are very smart and have respectable credentials. Unfortunately, some atheists just try to bully others by making bald assertions and disqualify other world views from the start. Many will also attack the people making an argument, and not the merit of the arguments themselves.

Just accepting Jesus as lord and Savior is not enough. It tells us in order to wash away our sins we must be baptized.
Just posted a thread on this.

Sooo... let's say I just accepted Jesus and repented of my sins. I'm on the way to my batptizm, BAM! die in a car accident...
