Quote (RamDass @ Jun 14 2011 10:17pm)
"Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do."

What this means to me:

Father - The Father means the creator. What does the creator mean to me? Well when I ask myself that question I don't expect an answer. Only because an answer would be only one part of the whole. What I mean by that is that if God created everything God is everything. To have an answer for God makes no sense what so ever looking at it from these terms. Although there is no answer I don't believe having nothing is such a misfortune. After all from nothing comes something! So the Father to me means nothing that makes something.

Forgive - When I ponder on forgiveness it doesn't take long before I realize that I have forgotten all that was done to me. Whether it be earlier that day or something from a long time ago. This is not to say when I go into a thought of something from the past that there isn't past judgments that come along with it. But when I go into this present moment I don't care what was in the past for there is no past just now. So what forgiveness means to me is that when we enter the moment of truth we have no care for what has happened or what is to happen, for we are now back in the eyes of God.

Them/They/They - Who is they? Well its definitely not me! Who is me? Me is something that I've been witnessing for 20 years now. And with me comes them. Now when I compare them to me it always seems to be a mess. But who am I to judge them? They have their own problems just like me. I've done things they wouldn't like but I thought it was best for me. I'm sure they have done the same. Are they separate from me? If we respond to each other so often it seems unlikely. So maybe there is no they? So maybe "forgive them" (which in my perspective means truth of the whole and no care for answers) is a way of bringing the who we think is "I" back to the God "I"?

Know Not  - You never know for sure. The only thing we can know is that we are, for we are here to ask.

Do - If every action has a reaction, how do we know what we do will have any help to the outcome?

Just some thoughts on what was trying to be said let me know what you think :P

I think your thinking to hard bro, and skewing the context of what was said.. You can't just take X text and pull it apart, without taking the context of 'said text'.

The way you described father: that's he's everything because he made everything - so God's evil/sin? Let me ask you, what's darkness? And father means nothing that makes something - what? /confuse.
"So what forgiveness means to me is that when we enter the moment of truth we have no care for what has happened or what is to happen" Moment of truth, very vague, do you mean judgement? It sounds like, your actions don't matter because you will be forgiven.
Perhaps I'm misunderstanding your intended message. If so, I think it may need to be stated clearer and without trying to sound so sophisticated (I think you lost a lot of your meaning in trying to word and phrase your sentences so strategically).

Its just what he said, there isn't some mystical hidden meaning in it.

"Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do."

Its exactly that, even a child could understand.

Jesus cried out for the LORD to forgive even the people who were nailing him to a cross and killing him. Its a picture of God's forgiveness...

To make something you need nothing otherwise there is no way of comparing aka seeing that something... It needs the contrasting background. The darkness is merely the contrasting background to the light but to see them as one is the bliss we enter when becoming more Christ like.

By "moment of truth" I mean to say the true view of the Universe/God/Oneness/whatever word you want to color it with (Seeing all as one which is beyond the mind, so you can even call it leaving it to a higher power). I do believe there is a meaning to the actions when coming to the realization of truth. But once one has attained "Christ Consciousness" all is forgiven, for you see your actions as part of the game we as egos play.

It can be simple and it can be complex... There is a lot of complex people out there... So I get into it aha
