Wow... you are the type of "christian" that America (and the rest of the world, lets be fair now) have come to know and "love"... This entire statement is so full of judgment and condemnation. I believe there is a verse in the Bible that talks about a plank that relates to statements such as this!

I mean here is the thing, can't this be true? Being a just and fair God, there has to be condemnation and judgment upon people who are guilty? I don't see why people get upset at this when it is God's character in doing so. As DsTicken wrote, that statement CAN be true if that is the intent God had. I know a friend who said pretty much the same thing and there are some disgusting things going on in Japan with sexual immorality. I don't think it's off base and if he feels led to share that, why should he be condemned and judged? Although I am not sure how I stand but I do know that at the end of the day, the Japanese community doesn't need to hear this in this point of time. Right now, they need to know that there is hope after this tragedy.

Here is the problem with the statement however. God didn't say it, a MAN said it. God told us mere men to most definitely NOT do that thing... many many many times over again. He didn't feel led by God to say that he felt led by his brain to say that. Here's a really good reason for it.

You got a dude walking down the street he sees a guy holding a NKJV walking around and goes "Hey you know those japs got what they deserve" Now do you think that this guy is going to feel inclined to go meet this guy? Or even go to a church, even if it's just for Easter? Nope... he's going to remember how heartless and judgmental this "christian" was. It's the number 1 complaint people have against Christians, and then ignorance but that's a totally different discussion.

God will NEVER lead someone to pass judgment. I can say that with 100% confidence because of what my Bible says in a few hundred places.

Then how does God's message get spread? Are there people who cannot hear His voice and be the mouthpiece? We are all mere instruments of this and whether you are correct that legitimacy of these statements have to be discerned carefully, I also am a firm believe that people can speak prophetically and give warnings and such. It is then our job to figure out whether it is from God or not. Intention has to be definitely determined. In my personal opinion, these statements said may be indeed true that God was punishing a corrupt nation needs to be withheld as right now that is indeed not going to be leading people to Christ since this isn't seen as the loving God Christian proclaim Him to be.

I think there is a huge line from understanding judging and discernment and where that line is. I've been involved where people hide behind this statement of "don't judge" as a way of not being accountable for their own actions. This has to be done in a loving manner and there is a HUGE difference from lovingly discern as opposed to raining down judgment to everyone.

I understand the difference between Discernment and Judgment. It is indeed a very fine line. Here's the problem with the argument here, you cannot tell somebody they deserve this kind of tragedy and loss of life and call it "loving discernment". This aregument is pointless as the Bible states we are to pray for the Nations.

Right now, that statement is insensitive but if someone who has that prophetic gift was told this...how is that in your opinion? I just still think that statements like this can hold some merit and if it indeed is the state of Japan and God wants them to turn to Him, this can be an opportunity. It's poorly timed but sometimes we need a rude awakening of our own sin (broken) in order for us to return back to Him. I can understand this.

By no means am I saying this indeed is true but I can see where if this indeed were true, we can pray specifically for Japan and their turning away from their sins.

Here's a sure fire way to check if God is calling you to do ANYTHING. What's the Bible say about it? I can tell you w/o fail a statement like that is always going to met with harsh opposition by multiple places in the Bible, not just by me.

Whenever one is to say that man has been given what he deserves because of judgement, than these are not the words of Jesus in my opinion.
I certainly pray for all of these people.
