let me start by saying right off that I am in no way making fun, trolling, or anything of the sort
this is an earnest question
They say all you have to do is put your trust in God.
I've heard the story over and over, I've tried many many times, and yet today I'm more evil than ever before. Evil is the word. I'm full of TRASH. My insides are putrid rotting filth. I need a savior.
But it kind of feels like he doesn't want me, because I've prayed and asked many times but got nothing out of it.
So what am I doing wrong?
This is simple yet difficult to understand because it takes a change of life. God will not change your life for you. You need to find a Church of Christ and be taught the Bible way and not the doctrine of men. Your first step on the path to salvation is developing faith. How do you develop faith? Romans 10:17 says, "So then faith comes by
hearing, and
hearing by the word of God." You need to hear the word of God preached to you and from a gospel preacher from the Church of Christ. After hearing the word you then need to believe what you hear. Mark 16:16 says, "He who
believes and is baptized will be saved; but
he who does not believe will be condemned." After this you need to repent. Repent is a changing of lifestyle, turning away from sin and not sinning willfully. Acts 2:38 says, "Then Peter said to them, “
Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." You need to confess Christ before men. Matthew 10:32 says, "Whosoever therefore
shall confess me before men, him
will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven." Next you need to be baptized for the remission of your sins as it is clearly taught in the scriptures. Listen to all these examples of baptism for the remission of sin.
Acts 2:38
Then Peter said unto them,
Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 22:16
And now why tarriest thou? arise, and
be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
1 Peter 3:20-21
(20) Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is,
eight souls were saved by water.(21) The like figure whereunto even
baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
Acts 8:38-39
(38) And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went
down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch;
and he baptized him.
(39) And when they were
come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more:
and he went on his way rejoicing.
Mark 16:16
He that believeth
and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Always remember here, you have to believe fiirst, without believing there is no need to get baptized, that is why God never mentions it. "please people do not start this dumb arguement again"
Matt 28:19-20
(19) Go ye therefore, and teach all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:(20) Teaching them to
observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Acts 10:48
And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
John 3:5
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be
born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”
Matthew 7: 13-15 says, "13 Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it."
God says this because many will tell you all you need to do is believe and you are saved, or all you need is faith and you are saved. You need to obey all of God's commands to be saved. This appears to be the easy way out. There is no easy way.
There will be some who say I am wrong. That is their choice. You must make yours. You need to become a child of God before he will hear your prayers.
