Repent - to feel sorry, self-reproachful, or contrite for past conduct; regret or be conscience-stricken about a past action, attitude, etc.

If this is a true emotion then you will be forgiven. Half heartedly saying sorry for your transgressions does not work. Habitual sins are a tough topic and God knows this, so if you really try to stop swearing or looking at porn, He understands. You have to actually try and understand why it's wrong though.

e: It's more of a total life change process to eliminate factors that encourage bad behavior.

not my own words buddy, Jesus Christ's words, I can quote him John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, bu thave everlasting life."
or so to say, "for God so loved xSJsp, that he gave his only begotten son (jesus christ), that whosoever believeth in Him(jesus christ) should not perish, but everlasting life."

please, I'm not playing as anyone buddy, stop being a self-righteous, you give Christians a bad name.

It's people like you that give Christians a bad name. Making no attempt to curb unchristian behavior is the same as not repenting for it. As Christians, you are expected to fall short of the glory of God in some aspects of your life. You are expected to struggle. The message behind John 3:16 is not that you don't have to try, but that you will be forgiven for those aspects of your life where you try, and still fail.

We all fall short, and we're all wicked and confused @ heart, so i agree 100% with this, except for the 'Christians a bad name' part, because I give Christianity a bad name
just through myself still sinning, but thats why Jesus had to die -- I guess im the reason that Jesus had to die, and why the MURDERER got set free instead of Him, he replaced sin (murder, etc.) on the cross.
Im the reason Jesus had to die, I am Barnabas, and w/o Jesus i suck (Psalm 16:2 'my goodness is nothing apart from You.) ** check out withoutjesusisuck.com im getting a shirt from there =O**

Swearing is only a way to express anger. I don't get why you class it as a sin.

nothing wrong with being angry.
nothing wrong with hating things.
(God hates sin)

but it's the way in which you express the anger that displeases Him

If you're a sinner, and you swear a lot, and do things that are like against the will of god, or w/e..
And you repent or confess, you'll be forgiven and still go to heaven ?

if all you care about is getting to Heaven, its an empty faith.
your supposed to be concerned about Jesus's love.
but yes, you are. He died on the cross.

The correct translation of the word used for repent is " to walk away from " .

We are not forgiven because we repent , we are forgiven only by grace through faith in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ .

Yes, as long as you TRULY repent and turn away from those sins. It is so obvious when you are truly sorry or if you are just faking it.

You will know if you have repented if you come across the same circumstances that make you swear a lot etc. and see how you can handle it differently.
