I wouldn't be jumping to do things for people that were so selfish and greedy either.

That said, even when he was "doing things for earth" (in the old testament), mankind is so stupid that within days/weeks, they forgot and would fall back into their old habits. What you're looking for is someone to do everything for you, which is contrary to how life works. I don't expect someone that lives in a socialist nanny-state to understand that though.

Ok, I'm an atheist. I don't say that god doesn't exist, yet I can't understand how people can be so sure that he does.

In my personal opinion I think god could possibly exist, yet I don't think it's in any way the same as how humans believe him to be. If there is a god, and I'm not sure whether there is or not, surely he must be so above our understanding of intellect that it makes it almost impossible to explain away any of his actions.

Perhaps you got that Job because you tried your hardest. You wasn't given the job out of nowhere, for no reason. Does god, if he exists, only help those who try to help themselves? There are many poor people, people that need a break in life. But if they just sat at home all day everyday and did nothing, would god help them? That is a question I don't know the answer to.

I've always been curious about understanding how and why people believe in god. As I said, I don't know if he exists or not. In my opinion I think you got the job simply because you were willing to put yourself out there and help yourself. You tried your hardest and you got a break.
