Through prayer, we begin to feel his love and his presence. Another reason is all the Atheists I meet are miserable, angry and seem to have such a vendetta against religion.

I'm an atheist and I consider myself to be a very happy person with a high confidence level and plenty of self-esteem. I do have quite a bit of a problem with religion, which is what usually happens when people reject their faith.

Hey guys, just recently noticed jsp had this sub forum.

I'm sure you've all gone through that time where you questioned God.
I went to a catholic high school,
Been a catholic my whole life.
But ever since I've gotten to college I've just started questioning God, and religion as a whole.

I just don't know what to truly believe in anymore, and I almost feel stupid at some times believing in God.

Anyone have any enlightening stories or tasks that helped them out?

Nothing wrong with questioning your faith, buddy. If you ever have any questions for an atheist don't hesitate to PM me.

Welcome to the sub-forum! <3

God does not mind asking questions. Listening for answers should concern most of your time though.
You had a religious upbringing,
and tried to hold to the teaching... (but what about your relationship with Him?)
Seems now that you in college, you actually have the freedom to consider God and decide point by point, if what you been taught is man made religion or actually has something to do with actually knowing God.

Belief = Agreement, with God so you have to know Him enough to grasp what to agree with. Agreement also needs trust and in a relationship and with God it is called FAITH (Full Assurance In The Highest). It is relationship that is the cornerstone of faith not religion!

The part in the Bible about "seeking Him with your whole heart" is enlightening. I spent many years cursing aloud at God to the heavens. After many years, I finally got so tired I just kinda stopped; Not only cursing(demanding) but also peaceful (not trying to pull away) and got in a "receiving state", that I eventually heard Him after a few years and started running towards Him.

I'm not on everyday now so if you want me to answer something, send it to my PM box please. <3

I did question God's existance at one point, until I remembered the rainbow story as nobody has ever told or showed me how a rainbow comes into play. So therefore now I do believe in him.

LOL id think that would do the opposite. Putting your faith in your goverment to not be jsut useing you and praying/hopeing you dont get killed, that youll make it home.

First of all, your grammar and spelling are terrible. That makes people doubt the validity of any statement you make.

Second, speaking from experience as a prior enlisted member myself, he has a valid point. When you're placed into extreme situations and see things happen that you know could only have been by a higher power, it does in fact reinforce your faith. Although I would not suggest enlisting in the military simply for the sole purpose of proving the presence of God in your life. I would not recommend that anyone join the military in fact. I do believe that the brave soldiers, who I respect and do sympathize with, to be partaking in a scheme contrived by our government to procure the control of oil and drug smuggling in the middle-east. I didn't care for the idea of being involved in such and being lied to and told that I was fighting a "war on terror" personally.

Third point and the last one I'll make in this thread: everyone has doubts from time to time. Those are not unlike the doubts or lack of faith you might have in your fellow man. You just simply have to ascertain your faith in God by praying and doing the best you can in your day-to-day life.

I've been having some difficulties in this area myself lately, so I won't profess that it's as simple as putting on your shoes or brushing your teeth. It is very difficult; perhaps the most difficult aspect of being a human being. We're not perfect and we just have to continue to try and do our best. May the Lord bless our efforts, as we continue to struggle with such a daunting task.

No respect for Catholics. Worship Mary? Not allowed to own a bible?

Honestly, that's just ignorance and propaganda. If you want the real scoop, then ask a Catholic.

My Grandmother is a Catholic and she doesn't argue logically and she is just a sad, sad woman. 50 damn years straight of praying to God that her mother gets out of Hell and into Heaven.

One single day recently she didn't do it and she cried throughout the entire day, her quote was "I could have had to do it one more time as today might have been the day she would have gotten out but now that I didn't do it she may have to wait a few more years before she gets out of Hell now. *Sob*"

so your saying your judgine the entire belief system of catholics on one old womans unscriptural beliefs?

while i'll admit, i believe the catholic belief has A LOT of flaws

i still respect the fact that they exist, and would be just as willing to pray for and love a catholic as much as any other person i'd ever meet

i dont have it in me to be rude or mean to anyone who follows there beliefs, even if they arent correct.
