I was raised in a lliberal Church of Christ but my parents encouraged me to find my own beliefs. I have since shunned quite a great deal that I grew up listening to but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
My belief in God hasn't changed but I am much more open to what other people think and believe. Mostly, I've grown to the point where I listen to people and try to understand their point of view before I pass forth my ideals.

I am a worship minister at a non-denominational Christian church. Our church is part of the restoration movement. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restoration_Movement

Our sister church is the Church of Christ. We pretty much share all the same views and doctrines, excpet that we worship with music in our sanctuary. :)

I'm sure you'll find one. The most important thing to remember is building your relationship with God.

Aren't relationships usually two sided?

Yes they are, and unfortunately we are always the one who tend to slack on our side.

My entire family (the church-goers that is) has been Baptist as long as I've known.

What if there was a god once and he is no longer alive/existing? It would make for a very one sided relationship. People tend to have such static ideals of god; but what if he/she is not a perfect entity and is both mortal and fallible? What if the progression of the human race was not a blessing, but rather a miscalculation?

I see it as there's only one Church--the followers of Christ. Denomination is typically just worship preference, unless they're adding doctrine, which can be a very dangerous thing. We're all one body.

(But, I was raised in and currently attend Church of Christ)

isnt the premise of a god the fact that it is infallible and immortal? what if...the infamous question.

First off, I'd like to keep this post on topic about everybody's denominations and what church they go too.

To respond to you two, in His word it clearly states that he is everlasting, that He will always be alive. Our God is not a mortal god.

Quote
"Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom" (Isaiah 40:28).

If you two are truly that doubtful about our God, I suggest you try praying with an open heart and open mind and reading Genesis.

Lets please keep this topic on subject from this point out.
