So long story short:

Got out of the Army in 2011. Joined the oil business and got hurt on the job, lost my job, no workman's comp, etc. Ended up maxing a credit card to pay for food and bills while looking for a job. No job could be found and was evicted.

So now my wife and I are staying with family but our stay is coming to an end and we have horrible credit and an eviction on our record. Does anyone know how we can rent a house with such a situation? I have read Dave Ramsey's books, etc. but credit is still needed in most places.

I've thought about getting a six month lease and paying the first two months up front.

Any ideas? Or if you know how I can sue the company that let me go I would love to know. I looked for lawyers and attorneys but none would take my case on a free console.

Depending on where you live, there may be a ministry set up to help people in your situation. In my area there is a ministry that buys houses and then rents out the rooms to people who have low income. They rent the room for like $75 a month (includes utilities). You might want to check for something like that.

Thanks. I don't think I could take advantage of that if it was that low though. My wife and I make an income now but because my is government pay, most companies won't recognize it as a "viable" income. It's mostly the bad credit / eviction crap. Lord willing we will find a place. Also it's hard on the marriage if someone y'all know what I mean. (Those who are married  )

Thanks for the concern.

I've been trying. Everyone I know said I should but when I talk to a free consultation lawyer they say it is kind of iffy. It happened about two weeks shy of my 90 day mark and Texas is a right to work state. SOOOOOOOOOO..... I guess that makes it hard to determine. I don't even want to sue for money anymore, I just want someone to cover my medical bills so I can be "normal" again. I sucks having your neck hurt everyday from when you wake up to when you go to sleep. Pain for me is odd too. I'm like The Incredible Hulk lol. When my neck or should starts hurting it makes me angry, unlike my wife when she's in pain she becomes docile and quiet. The more it hurts the more angry I get so it's hard on both her and I. Lord willing every will work out. I also need to find a church up here in Pittsburgh now.

Most towns at this point have income based living. They aren't always the best, but it's something. Dave's books are great. My wife to be have gone through his financial peace class. While I hate credit, you are right in saying in most cases it's required.
My plan of action would be once you find a place, and what the down payment would be.... I would go to a local loan company and take out a small loan to at least go towards the payment. Yeah, it increases debt in this case, but at the same time, you will have a roof over your head, and a place to start new in.

as far as the legal actions, i really have no idea.

Jesus is faithful, and Jesus is provision.

Thank you for your service to our country.
