My older brother was admitted to the ICU today with pneumonia and bleeding in his lungs. I ask for your prayers for a diagnosis and a speedy recovery.

He's still in the hospital, but a lot more stable. The doctors are waiting on tests, but as of now they believe he has some sort of autoimmune disease that was triggered by pneumonia. He's improving little by little, day by day. As long as he stays on his current pace, he'll be okay. We just have to take it one day at a time.
Much love everyone <3

Thanks for the update. It is sounding like his doctors are grasping at straws, to explain why he is getting better and are speaking out of fear, before the test results arrive.

Fear not and keep us updated. <3

They form a possible and logical conclusion based on symptoms they're "grasping at straws" what are you talking about?

Seriously what were you trying to say with this post? Why would you say his doctors are grasping at straws because they give an explanation of what they think happened before test results are in. If someone you know is sick and you ask the doctor whats wrong do you want to hear "impossible to know until test results are in" or do you want them to tell you what their best guess is based on symptoms?

It was what I discerned at the time.

I have been reminded to pray for him a few times today so I have been pondering the situation.

This is the best I can describe that pondering to you in short...

Heightened immune response, due to illness is a given in response to an illness, if the body is functioning correctly. He is improving yet they are stating "autoimmune disorder". Pneumonia has a plethora of causes and to jump to such negative conclusions, without the test results.

He more likely had the flu or something similar, it progressed to pneumonia and his body went into immune overdrive to fix the problem. Spouting out a negative/fear response to him and his family, before the results were known, is spiritually, mentally and even if you are a non-believer horrid by the placebo effect!

Still interested in updates and anything specific you feel I should pray for. <3

So you're saying you're more qualified than trained doctors to diagnose illness?

Autoimmune disorders cover a wide range of ailments many of them relatively harmless with simple treatment/management. The heightened immune response is how an autoimmune disorder would be triggered or discovered........

If they're doing something people want to know why. Why are you giving him this why did you do that? The answer is "we think he might have an autoimmune disorder". The alternative would be to do absolutely nothing until the tests came in or REFUSING to tell a patients family what you're treating them for.

Maybe you should go to med school before bashing doctors for doing their jobs. Honestly it seems like you had a bad experience in a hospital or something.

No,

You seem to be counterpointing for sake of argument, not understanding what I said and it is a distracting to the needs and desires of the OP.

You have a new topic button and I have a PM box if you wish to continue the discussion.
