Thankyou
So...what is your answer/opinion?
So is it jealousy as in him having better cars/houses more popular etcOR
The kind of jealousy I mentioned; husband being jealous because his wife is with another man?
That is interesting, what I was led to reply there didn't actually answer your question. "Mysterious ways?"

If you look at the letter up to that point, it will reveal the answer. Just go backwards into chapter 12, remembering it was written without chapters, verses or even spaces!
Paul is saying all of this, to a group of believers, who obviously are envious/jealous of each others positions/jobs and their gifts given to them by God.
It is closer to the bold above in that regard.

The husband/wife relationship is a covenant in God's eyes and similar His giving of His covenant to the Israelites at Sinai.
Take the following into consideration...
Exodus 20:3-6 (King James Version)
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a
jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
The most beautiful expression of love/agape is seeing how God ultimately gets revenge in His jealous rage of vengeance...
John 3:16-17 (King James Version)
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
If you wish to study more into that, try the Book of Hosea. Many see it as a good explanation of how God sees His relationship with us.

Seems the elaboration on agape or unconditional/charitable love, is the main point. Paul made it the center of the letter and I can't seem to simply state the answer without expounding on agape. Every thought that seems to come out of this discussion, seems to lead back to agape!
May the agape of God reign in your heart!
