Why is Pride considered one of the "7 Deadly Sins?" I thought Christians should take Pride in their beliefs?

Maybe it has another alternative meaning just wondering why it is, if anyone knows.

Of course we should be proud of our children's achievements.
Of course we should be proud of our nation.
Of course we should be proud of our etc.....

Pride becomes a sin when you become so proud of yourself, that you love yourself first, before God or anyone else. You see only the positive side of yourself and believe that there is nothing wrong with you. That is sinful pride.

pride in this sense is not like: im proud of my heritage, im proud of my religion etc.
pride in the sense means the opposite of humility. humility is perhaps (next to love) christs most important teachings. nice portion of pauls letters are largely dedicated to this topic
i think its the first few verses of phillippians 2 that touches on how christ acted and is a reflection of how we should be
