Sooo I need some help.

I got the EA key and dowloaded the game on the website and steam, for some reason it would not let me play on steam so I started to play on the game I downloaded from website. Now I bought one of the supporting packages from Steam and wanted to play my current character but its not there (I used the same email for both). How can I link it to steam to be able to play my character? help plz

the same key should allow you to play from Steam or the main site. just need to link accounts https://www.pathofexile.com/my-account/connections

So I link the accounts, but for some reason there 2 separate accounts? as in the # behind the name is different for each. now I can pick which one to play in, but the problem now is that the coin got loaded into the "new" account and not on the current character...is there a way to share?
