The way to post on the trade website it through you stash tab in game. So you have to have at least one to be able to trade. If you want to invest the absolute minimum to do so, you could upgrade one of your base stash tab to a premium one.

You can link your item in the trade chat in game and ask for currencies, but way less people will see what you have to offer. No risk there! You right-click on the other person, select trade, they'll accept and then a trade window will open.
