What's unclear?

If your character has taken Damage over Time (DoT) within the past second, you receive a 50% reduction in DoT damage. Essentially, if you pass through a firewall or become poisoned, the damage you take over time is reduced by 50%. However, there's a trade-off: if you have not taken any DoT damage in the past second, you will instead suffer 50% increased DoT damage during that brief window.

This mechanic can be utilized to balance self-damaging builds, which often leverage Damage over Time effects to gain significant buffs.

but the thing that is weird to me, is the fact that if i have taken dmg it reduces the dmg taken. but if i havent taken dmg i take more dmg? what? czu if i take dmg i get the reduction, which essentially means the lower line of the skill explanation is irrevelant?

or is it just 1 second i take more dmg over time?

Might be weird to you Vall, but this is the most spot-on way it can be described. Perhaps ask ChatGPT to rephrase it. ChatGPT knows PoE to.

so it means there is a 1 second delay before the dmg reduce is setting in?

I agree with you, and not the others that this is kind of redundant. Because except for that tiny split-second window, the top line negates the bottom line...
