I know ranger goes with dext, but just realized some gems need 80+ int on them

I tried getting int on jewellery along with res+life so I can wear cast on shock/freeze gems, but now when I was about to get ball lightning one, it asks for 144 int, which I need for bosses

so I guess, I need to throw a lot of nodes to +5 int so I can reach that?

Yes, or you go with a lower level on ball lightning

i wouldnt waste the time or effort getting int anymore for any meta gems. They just nerfed the crap out of meta gems a few days ago and the whole CoS ball lightning pretty much doesnt work anymore

Ball lightning and cast on shock/cast on freeze is definitely worth it. It's part of the Deadeye Lightning build that complete destroys bosses in a few seconds flat when combined with Orb of Storms. .

But OP the answer to your question is lower level skill gems. You can't reasonably meet a 144 int requirement as a ranger without gimping your setup. Here is the thing: Ball lightning requires a minimum skill gem of 11, which has an int req. of 95. CoS and CoF can be gotten with a lvl 8 spirit gem for 64 int requirement, but since you have to get minimum 95 for ball lightning you might as welll get a lvl 11 CoS gem as well.

95 int is still kind of high though, but is achievable by getting one or two pieces with an good int roll, and then just slotting int in your passive nodes as required.

I've been using those nodes to give me the stats I need for gear/gems. Once you're in end game you can always respec those specific nodes to change the stats back to your main stat if your gear allows it.
