Anytime I see a unique item I get excited like OH COOL! Something new I have never seen before I can't wait to see what it is, but in the back of my mind I know it will be useless and I nor anyone I know will ever use it.

Uniques feel much more powerful than in poe1 but are almost always niche to a build so only a handful will be expensive (for meta builds). Would be super unhealthy for the game if they were better than end-game rares in every slot as everyone would end up just using the exact same set of items with no crafting or rng involved.

I have found about 20 and about 18 of them were just worse versions of a poe1 item.

Yeah I didn't play POE1 but What does he mean much more powerful, most of the uniques are pretty much useless
