Never played PoE 1, of course I bought Path of Exile II for 27€ from steam...

You need to redeem the EA key you received on the actual PoE website.
Once you do this, in the early access section of your profile, you will be provided with a Steam key.

I did all of that ahead of time and still having the same issue.
