most of the people hacked did use some tools, but there is a small minority that didnt

but the problem is that in any randomly picked sample of poe players, most do use tools. if we wanted to be sure, we should do two surveys, one something like "do you use tools" and other like "if you were hacked, did you use tools" and compare percentages and even then the stats would probably be unreliable i think

edit: nevermind, sample isnt random to begin with.. hackers didnt steal from randoms, they stole from people that had a lot of stuff. thats a minority of people that are even more likely to have used some tools

If this is true thats really bad news for all players.

No matter what the issue is, they have to come up with 2-F-A now id say.
Its better anyway.

It's ridiculous that we're about to hit 2025, people pay thousands for cosmetics and we dont even have a proper 2FA.
I really hope that some of the bigger streamers are also hit, so that there is enough incentive for GGG to do sth.

currently im camping the forums and looking at people getting massively upset apparently if you mention the scammers name (some hacked ppl seem to have been trading with same guy), ggg "support" removes the post and puts them on probation its a shitshow and im there for it

Don't they need to know your e-mail password as well?
Heck, whenever my ip/location changes, I have to login to my e-mail and put a code.

Everyone I’ve seen hacked is using some sort of add on.

unfortunately everyone is using some sort of addon to begin with, especially those who were hacked. people like me dont get hacked because theres nothing to steal, but the better players (with something to lose) are more competitive to begin with and more likely to have used addons

basically if you see even a single (trusted) person who got hacked without an addon, thats good evidence that addons arent required. we just need to find a single person that used no addons (for poe1 either) and we have proof that ggg fucked up. i mean my intuition tells me ggg fucked up because ggg always fucks up. if they had used a fraction of the money they pay for their state of the art PR and used it for security, this probably wouldnt have happened. i got no proof about any of this, but thats never stopped me in the past

I do feel bad for the people that got hacked, I'd be pissed, but then I see people (like some posting in this thread) using the exact same user name here as the official forums, and I am kinda not surprised they are among the ones that got hacked.
