try and upgrade weapon often, worth to use transmute / augments on white staffs if they are good base for your level

flat dmg on rings can help a bit

make sure your resists are not negative. couple prismatic rings are nice for normal difficulty

make sure your skills are leveled up too, use higher level uncut gem to lvl ur current skills

With leveling gears, getting from 1-60+ (completed the campaign) is a breeze for any char - not just for the monk with Ice Strike.

Leveling gears:

Helm - Goldrim (30+ all res)
Chest - Enfolding Dawn - 100 spirit (5-15 all rest)
Amulete - The Everlasting Gaze
Ring 1 - Polcirkeln
Ring 2 - Life and res
Belt - Midnight Braid for mana recoup
Boots - MS, life, and res

Weapon - get the highest DPS of the Quarterstaff as you can according to your level
1-12 - buy a white one from vendor and craft it
12-20 - look for dps up to 68+
20-30 - look for dps up to 176+
30-40 - look for dps up to 250+
40 and up look for dps up to 300+

Gems as soon you can equip:

Ice strike - make sure to quality it (only 4 links is needed for leveling).
-for support gems - look for any ice strike build and follow their suggestion.
Tempest - make sure to quality it (only 4 links is needed for leveling).

Herald of Thunder - make sure to quality it.

I flew through acts solo and quicker too.
Just make sure to upgrade the gems, ring 2 and boots as you level ed up.
