For my adv website development class we have the choice of using any editor we want. they have to abide by these rules

Editor This course involves creating and modifying Web pages using a text or other HTML editor. You will also need to create
and modify .xml, .xsd, and .dtd files. You may use other editors if you so choose, but all demonstrations and lectures will be
done using Notepad++

i am familiar with jedit and cloud9, are teacher is going to be using notepad++, i am not familiar with it. we do have the option to downnload and use it. how hard is it to learn notepade++ real fast

or can i just stick to cloud9, can cloud9 create xml, xsd and dtd files?

notepad++ is easy and pretty nice. But if you want something really good, get Sublime Text.

stick with notepad++ it's lightweight and easy to use
I am partial to IntelliJ for everything though, it has great intellisense for everything, I use it for larger web projects because of the intellisense it has for xml php html css json javascript, pretty much everything you want for web development

and for writing code for android or go it's the best out there, it is the official android development ide

(but it's heavy, too heavy for little school projects single file projects you might as well just use a text teditor like notepad++)

Vim

Intellij products are the best if you can't handle the vim
