something at work broke earlier. dont know the details, but apparently day light savings broke our order api. then last night the chess site i go to was dying. lo and behold, daylight savings takes another victim.

And yet another reason to store Date Time Offsets instead of DateTime. This way you can persist an exact instance of time across datacenters in different timezones without having timezone changes and daylight savings time come into play.

if I ever work at another company, it will be one that is not international.

We messed up storing dates early on in the softwares life, now everything is just fucked

It isn't just international. If you are passing a date/time through servers across even just your own country, due to the differences in time zones you can run into issues when they attempt to deserialize using their own system time as reference.
