I've noticed a lot of folks (who are maybe 8+ years out of college) who are 'software engineers' or developers don't know jack about troubleshooting issues.
They'll have some issue that takes one google/stackoverflow search to resolve, yet they seem to completely skip this and just ask for help right away..
Is this common across the industry?
this is why open source projects are usually built that much better, however slow they may go.. because people doing it for a hobby, spend their free time doing something they very much enjoy, thus doing it well.
if I was paid x amount whether I gave a shit or not, I'd not do a good job, either.
