Opening a new business looking for a special calculator to be made. Pretty simple i imagine just needs to be able to add and subtract time over different rates and give the total.
Inside the calculator the worker would be inputing their services Start and End times for mulitple things
Example:
Package A
$20/hour
Package B
$22/h
Package A was done from 8:00am to 2:00pm
package B was from 2:00pm to 8:00pm.
one 30minute lunch were taken during both packages.
$120 package A Cost -$10 for lunch taken =$110 package A total
$132 Package B Cost -$11 for lunch =$121 package B total
Packages total of $221 + tax of 3%
Grand total $227.63

How easily could i make this as someone who has essentially 0% background in any form of coding. Would it be realistically better to hire someone for this? Or possibly one of those bid on contract software websites? I don't know alot about this area so ty for any help

You could make this in excel, really really simply.
Or if you wanted a GUI for employees to input their own time, and the output to be written to a text file for you to have or something, that's not that hard either. Basic/low level experience in any programming language would work - Java would probably be the easiest, using netbeans or eclypse with their gui builder.

dude, it takes 5min to do that in excel...

Just learned he wants it built in on his website, in which case, looks like he'll be using JS.

Honestly, it isn't a large enough project to warrant hiring someone.

You could literally google the code, it's very simple and basic.

why the hell are lunches different costs?

var hourly
var lunch
var howmanyhours
var tax

var derp = ((hourly * howmanyhours) - lunch) * tax;

that'll be 0.01fg

Not worth hiring someone. Do sooner research and when you get hung up just come here and ask for help.
