Seriously I have been trying to trick this thing out for days and I can't get an inch on it.

I tried bootcamping with bootcamp assistant
I tried bootcamping with rEFInd
I tried hacking it with VMware to trick it into installing as a partition
I tried installing onto parallels
I tried installing onto virtual box

I'm on an old mac 2007 running osx ml 10.8.4
It can see and read windows installer discs and usbs in the finder, but when I try to run them through any of these systems they are not identified.

I don't understand why??
Anyone have any insight? Making me insane. :wallbash:

Stop trying to install Malware on your Mac would be my first suggestion.

Apple has built in protections against running arbitrary and dangerous code, that's the price of freedom.

If you want freedom to install malicious things you should install Linux and enjoy your viruses.

Installing windows isn't malware; a lot of people do it by dual boot or by virtualizing software. Apple itself tries to support it through bootcamp assistant.
Also paying for freedom is counter intuitive to the idea that something has said freedom, because its not free.

Back to the point of the thread now? ^_^

One of three possibilities come to mind
1) you have no idea how to use vmware and virtual box
2) virtualization is disabled in the bios
3) Your disk is garbage or the windows usb is incorrectly partitioned.

Did it. Dual boot without bootcamp. See here:
