I really don't know jack squat about web languages or anything and my library has all stuff from 03 lol. Are there websites or youtube tutorials that people would recommend? I honestly want to get involved in mobile web app development and just general website building. I know I can learn fast. I;m bipolar 1 manic depressive and when I hit mania I can just about do anything lol. Anything from links to general advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Start with html/css and come back in a few weeks when you're comfortable with it.

my friend is bipolar, and when she's manic she feels like she can do anything. big difference. she feels she can ace her classes without studying or doing homework, excel in her goal without working towards it. if you're like her, you'll hit mania, feel like you're the best programmer in the world and not study it, then when you're normal again you'll give up on it. i hope you're on your meds.

Thank you and I'm on the meds so i'm a little more realistic and in control of my states of mania! I'm a lot more realistic hehe.

Really neat way to look at it thanks for that too I appreciate it. I'll be attending a university near me in a two to three weeks so I'm hoping the beginner classes give me a feel for everything. I'm literally a complete beginner with no experience diving into a field that i feel has endless possibilities. I'm excited to take this step in my life and pursue something I should've pursued years ago! Thanks for the advice!

https://www.udemy.com/complete-web-developer-course/

It's on sale (New Years Promo) at the moment for $10 and it should also come with free web hosting for 6-12 months where you can actually practice with a control panel and all.

Codecademy is a great site, too. Also, bookmarking W3Schools.com makes for a great reference.

Thanks a lot! Checking out those other two sites today! I'm about 40 percent done with html&css on codecademy. The only trouble I really have is typing because I still type index style(acquired from years of diablo hot key nonsense) so using the ></ slows me down a bit but I suppose i'll get used to it. Is it more beneficial to just get a grip on html and css or should i also start tutorials on other web languages as well that might speed up my learning process? Let me know! Any advice is appreciated! Thanks again all! Much respect

if your interest is in websites, then getting a solid foundation in html/css is very important, especially as a beginner. javascript is the next step (and jquery after that, then server side language of your choosing).

you can always remap your keyboard, use macros, or use an IDE that helps you with the <>/ characters.

Go ahead and look at others. HTML/CSS is the foundation of websites, but you shouldn't hold yourself back from peeking at least at the basics (particularly syntax) of other web languages. I only ever focused one-at-a-time on web languages when I was learning advanced applications of it.

EDIT: Though, if you have trouble learning multiple things at once, there's no harm in going at it one by one. Personally, I did the basics of HTML, CSS, JS, JQ, and PHP all at the same time (basics to me = syntax, common functions, etc.), but focused on one or two at a time when it came to trying intermediate/advanced applications of the web languages for the first time.

Learn jquery before javascript. Learning javascript first would be like trying to learn how to build a bike before you learn to ride one.

Thank you so much for all the advice! You all have no idea how much I appreciate it. I'm not going to lie learning a new language isn't easy but this is a lot of fun and I'm excited to take some of the basic college courses in computer science and I honestly hope I'm the beginner in all my classes so wizards like yourselves can help me get on my feet. I'm just starting CSS now on codecademy so we'll see how it goes. I clicked on some of the other web languages and went through their beginner steps to kind of see how the languages differ but i suppose I really won't know what I'm doing until I get into the advanced stages of a particular language. Thanks for the advice on changing the keys for ><./ I think that can really help me! Thanks again!
