1) forget about making bots if you dont know how to program yet
2) look up codeacademy, learnpythonthehardway, w3schools (inb4hate)

Start studying the python, it's the easiest, this is why it's the first one that you would study @college.....

if you just want to make some robots for fun then sure, learn python.

But if you actually want a good understanding of programming and (and working with embedded systems) you should learn C.

If you want a job though, you'll have to learn Java.

Depends on the real purpose and how big or small the finished product needs to be. If learning for fun then it really doesn't matter which language you learn, once you learn the basics of the language then you can start having real fun with it. For all my home and office automation projects I use powershell and the "forbidden" language, and a sprinkle of bash occasionally. If you're thinking of programming as a career, start learning the basics of any language to get a feel for what it might involve. Udemy often has some good sales on "classes":

Coursera, edX, and udacity also have similar offerings.

eh. I guess.. I've actually had a good amount of recruiters interested in my C background. Think its good to understand low level concepts first then throw in an object oriented language and from there you should be pretty solid and well rounded.

and I interpreted bots as robots -> embedded systems -> C. But he's probably talking about bots for like video games lol
