At the moment I am signed up for a 2 year program for mobile software development and the only thing I have left to do is make sure no.e of the following semesters interfere with my full time job.

I've looked into understanding it a little bit and I understand the basics but I'm curious about a few things.

Potential jobs, or companies any one works for aswell as average pay from employees perspectives. I'd also like to know how anyone that has done the courses would feel about doing them while working 50 hours weeks and driving 2 hours a day, aswell as any basic knowledge that may help out.

you are setting yourself up for failure

if you work full time and try to do more than ~9 credit hours you will regret it. If you are a VERY serious person who can handle his shit, then you could possibly do 12 hrs + full time. However if your grades suffer as a result it is your own damn fault.

My advice: take it slow. Get good grades so that you never get overwhelmed with work. This also lets you more slowly absorb specific subjects to better understand them. And good grades will look good on a resume for a bit.

If taking it slow isn't an option, I suggest you say good bye to your friends and family for 2 years.

edit: not sure what your program entails but if it is trying to fit a 4 yr education in a 2 year degree then it will be difficult

double edit: and a 2 hr drive....jesus

Well I'm bored at work, nothing to really learn and I make 15 an hour, but I'm looking to make more. In the summer I'm always busy, nut come school time work slows down and I have almost every Friday off while maintaining my 40 a week, but I honestly don't know what goes into this, yeah I'm willing to put in the work and I'm far from unintelligent but I do hear what you're saying.

1 hour to and from work

I still don't suggest 18 hrs a semester, even if you are smart and diligent. I know a lot of people like that who still struggled to maintain various things, be it grades, relations with family or even sanity.

And that was just 12 hrs a semester + full time job + a 30 min drive.

Do you think the pay is worth the time? Or maybe I'd be better doing a less demanding IT class?, if so which would be easier, yet pay more than my highest potential pay. Of $18 an hour

Well I mean here is the thing. Certainly a degree will usually help with better pay. However a 2yr degree in something like Mobile App development doesn't really tell me much about the degree itself. What all does it cover?

If it isn't very broad, then you will be missing a lot of key stuff. Also, 4 yr degrees just look better to HR folk iirc. (And a lot of jobs [like bigger corporations] require you to fight through HR before you speak to actual devs)

My opinion is biased because I am about to finish a 4 yr degree, but I think they are very worth it. If you aren't in a particularly BIG hurry, I would slow down, figure out the proper course of action after doing some research, and set out on it.

There are a lot of factors to consider when making a choice like this. Remember that it will stick with you forever so make sure you put a lot of thought into this degree if you decide to pursue it.

do you have details on the 2 year program for mobile software development? if it's some sort of associates degree where most of your time is spent on literature, chemistry, and shit, then it sounds like a waste of time. or is it really 20 classes of just coding, presumably android, objective c, and some sort of cross-platform framework? if the latter, it might be helpful to learn some basic programming first before taking 6 programming classes at once.

as for salary, it depends on where you live, where you work, and what you do. if you have neither experience nor a bachelors, then it'll be hard to get a job. what is your goal? to write programs for iphones/android? if so, what makes you think you'll want to write code for a living? i definitely recommend learning some programming BEFORE you blow a lot of money on school to make sure 1) you can handle it and 2) you enjoy doing it.

/edit: if money is all you want, then i suggest staying away from IT. if it's not something you're good at and don't really enjoy it, the headaches/overtime simply aren't worth it. perhaps look into a radiographer, dental hygienist, paralegal, or pharmacy tech. they pay ok for an associates degree. or if you're interested in investing more time/money, pharmacists pay decent. 2-3 years of undergrad + 4 years pharmacy school and you'll be making around 100k for fairly easy work with no overtime.

INTRO TO PSYCHOLOGY

No, I don't want to for my whole life, I have a plan this is just a part of it, and its not just money, I decided to do this based on what I like. However you're not really giving me reason not to do it other than I wont like it or I shouldn't do it for money, but I am motivated to learn at this point in my life more than ever.
