Can anyone give me a reputable site for obtaining certifications in the following:

html
css
javascript
c++
a+
anything related?

Any information would be much appreciated!

Thank you.

Also, any good online schools for teaching these languages?
I have an understanding of all the above.

To answer your question on certifications, no not really
CompTIA offers the a+ certificate which I believe you can test for online, but for those languages there's nothing really reputable that employers look for to my knowledge

Thanks for the info.

I think I wanted to pursue these languages in a certification only because I want to learn them like I was still at the university, if that makes any sense.
I'm having a hard time learning from online tutorials, but I feel like I can grasp the material better if I was given questions in a test form after following the classes.

I will try to continue to search for some online resources that teach this way, if you know of any I'd appreciate the info.

e/ Just to be clear, I'm not looking for any certifications to land jobs or put on my resume, I just want to learn the material, the certification would be an added bonus.

"learning" them aka understanding the syntax is the easy part. what you need is experience. go over tutorials to learn the basics then go write your own apps. make your own blog (without using WYSIWYG tools), forum, etc. or go find some website and try to mimic it. once you're more comfortable with it, go back to online tutorials to learn more advanced things.

So try and avoid things like wordpress while I'm starting out?

I'll look for some better tuts than the ones I've been reviewing.

Thanks.

think about what your goals are. if your goal is to make a website, then wordpress is fine. if your goal is to learn css/javascript/etc then why would you use a tool that lets you skip it?

have you looked at codeacademy?

I will look at codeacademy now.

My goal would be to create a website for a small business I am starting up right now. ( wordpress would be sufficient to my knowledge)

However, I have been meeting different people who could be potential partners in much bigger projects, app/web development - so the larger goal would be to gain a good understanding of these languages so I could bring a lot to the table.

wordpress isn't a WYSIWYG, it's more of a cms/framework. From that perspective it is suitable for almost any website. Casual, Business, Commerce, Application, etc.
highly recommend you learn wordpress, simultaneously I'd like to recommended that you learn the technologies that drive wordpress. Namely, html5, css3, javascript + jquery, php, and mysql

codeacademy is good, so is teamtreehouse.
depending on what kind of learner you are you'll find different sources better/worse.
if you want/need to be spoonfed/start from scratch, teamtreehouse will teach you everything you need to know to get started and then some
if you already have a solid foundation and you try to use teamtreehouse (like i did) you will find yourself immensely bored and unable to pay attention (like i did)

If you really want a certification, ciw has a few. I don't think they are well known in the industry, so they probably wouldn't get you very far.
